Tips & shortcuts

Handy things that are easy to miss. We keep this list updated as tools grow.

Layout builder10 tips
  • Place a building

    Drag from the palette onto the map, or click a palette card then click the map.

  • Cancel modes

    Esc clears stamp, road, extension, and drag modes. Right-click empty map area also cancels.

  • Building actions

    Click a placed building to open its menu — rotate, auto-fill fields, auto-route to warehouse, clear fields, delete.

  • Delete selection

    Delete or Backspace removes the selected building or extension.

  • Roads

    Click or drag to paint. Drag from an existing road tile to erase.

  • Undo

    Road paint strokes undo as one step.

  • Share & save

    Share link copies a restorable URL; Export JSON or PNG to archive or send elsewhere; Import JSON to load a file.

  • Map view

    Toolbar Fit reframes the estate; Flip rotated sprites fixes awkward mirrored art.

  • Palette info

    Hover the (i) on palette tiles for extensions, recipes, and placement notes.

  • Filters

    Narrow the palette by profession, production chain, or chapter scope.

    Open fullscreen, then Fit to see the whole chain; pan and zoom stay inside the graph.

  • Pick a good

    Choosing a good from the list scrolls the graph to that node.
